East Kilbride FC's youth sides enjoyed a successful weekend of football, with several positive results across the club.
The talented U-15 group got the weekend off to a flier on Saturday mornining, turning in a fine show to defeat St Mirren YFS 5-1 to book their place in the semi-final of the West of Scotland Regional Cup. Goals from Zak Lindsay, Aiden Fellowes, Lewis Payne, Collins and Connor saw EK through after a great display.
The U-19's then made the short trip to face Eastwood at Waterfoot on Saturday afternoon, and came out on top after a penalty shoot out victory to claim their place in the semi-final of the U-19 West of Scotland Regional Cup . The match had finished 2-2 after Aaron Neill had twice put Kilby ahead. When the shoot-out arrived, Neill, Ferguson, Shields, Moore and Cassidy all held their nerve to make it 5-5, with Ross Goldie then pulling off a fine save, allowing Josh Macdonald to net the decisive kick.
The Under-16's then played out fine 1-1 draw against a strong Cambuslang side in the LFDA League to retain their unbeaten record.
The U-14's then saved the best for last on Sunday, defeating Glenvale 3-1 on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw to qualify for the Scottish Cup final (see attached report on website)
