Glenvale - 2

East Kilbride FC Under-14’s booked their place in the SYFA Scottish Cup final after a thrilling encounter at Renfrew on Sunday, with the Kilby young guns wining on penalty kicks after the match had finished 2-2.

EK had a dream start and went 1-0 up inside a minute. A great free kick from Campbell Tough to the back post saw Lewis Milligan find the net.

Kilby then went 2-0 with a counter attack from a Glenvale corner, Josh Haughey picked the ball up and played a perfectly timed pass through to Lewis Milligan who scored his second to give Rudi McKenna’s team a two goal advantage at half-time.

Glenvale started the second half in determined spirits and scored to make it 2-1, as the Paisley side started to take more control of the game.

EK were unable to hold out and Glenvale made it 2-2 to force extra time.

With both teams tired, there were few opportunities  and the game would be decided from a penalty shoot-out.

Campbell Tough, Chris Duke and Josh Haughey all converted from the spot with Jack Heraghty saving twice to give Kilby an historic first Scottish Cup final to look forward to in May at Airdrie.
