U-14's HIT EIGHT TO CLAIM TREBLE
DISAPPOINTMENT FOR U-19's, BUT U-14's HIT EIGHT ON FINALS DAY
A hugely depleted East Kilbride FC U-19's came up just short in their pursuit of the Glasgow League Cup, but the U-14's continued their quadruple charge with a 7-0 win over Hampden.
The 19's went into the match against Moorlands missing no fewer than 8 players, which proved a bridge too far as an excellent Moorlands side claimed the Cup 3-1.
2-0 down at half-time, and having had a Fraser Robertson goal bizarrely disallowed for offside, Kilby put on a fine display of character in the second half to hit back courtesy of a Jack Ferguson strike, but Moorlands netted again late on to deservedly lift the Cup.
The U-14's stormed out of the traps in their final against Hampden BC, taking a 10th minute lead when Kyle Moore scored a great goal from just outside the box.
Goals from Chris Duke, Lyle Crothers and another from Kyle Moore saw Kilby go in at half time 4-0 up.
Making five changes at half time, Shay Livingston scored from outside the box to make it 5-0 ten minutes into the second half before Lewis Milligan scored the goal of the game getting on the end of a Sam Ghoul assist to finish off a great passing move and make it 6-0.
Another brace for Logan Buick, who continued his excellent form saw the game finish 8-0.
Man of the match was Lyle Crothers who had an outstanding performance in central midfield. Well done to everyone involved.
Next weekend is another massive step for the club, with U-14's, U-15's & U-19's all in West Regional Cup final action.
Details of all the matches will be available this week.
