Dalbeattie Star v East Kilbride

Wednesday 1st August, Islecroft Stadium, 7.45pm kick-off

Kilby make the long midweek trip to Dalbeattie on Wednesday, in Matchday 2 of the 2018/19 Lowland League.

Brian Kerr’s men go into the match in good spirits, after a 10-0 win over Selkirk on Saturday, while Star approach the match on the back of a hard-earned point at League new boys Kelty Hearts.

EK gaffer Kerr should expect to have Ross McNeil and Paul Woods available after both missed Saturday’s win, and Sean Winter may well be back, after the Kilby talisman limped off just minutes into Saturday’s curtain-raiser at K-Park.

After a disappointing campaign last season, Dalbeattie showed on Saturday that they have worked hard over the summer, and deserved their point against the much-fancied Kelty.

The last EK trip to Iselcroft, on the first Saturday of 2018, saw a hard-fought 2-0 win for Billy Stark’s side on a bitterly cold day.

Sean Winter headed EK into an early lead, but the visitors could not capitalise on their dominance until 10 minutes from time, when substitute Ross McNeil finished expertly after a Michael Anderson through-ball.

EK Manager Kerr will no doubt settle for the same outcome this time out, as his side prepare for a big-week, with a trip to Alloa to face BSC on Saturday to follow.

The match at Dalbeattie will be filmed by EKFCtv, with highlights available later in the week.
