East Kilbride FC produced a commanding display to stay top of the Lowland League, defeating Dalbeattie Star 3-0 at K-Park.

Sean Winter struck twice, but later saw red for two yellow cards, before Joao Victoria netted late in the match to claim the win.

A very even opening saw the visitors come closest to opening the scoring, and Kilby rode their luck when Dalbeattie missed a good chance on 20 minutes. But EK took the lead on the half hour when Winter opened the scoring with a stunning overhead kick, a fine piece of opportunism from the midfielder who has scored in every match this season.

Joao Victoria then missed a great chance to double the lead five minutes later, when his shot was saved by the feet of Vinnie Parker.

Winter then nearly made it two after a finely worked short-corner, but his flick was again saved by Parker, and half-time arrived with Kilby 1-0 to the good.

EK started the second half well and went further in front on the hour. Anthony Maregnhi's deep corner was headed back across goal by James Brough, and Winter was perfectly placed to bullet home a header from 10-yards.

A deflated Star then reacted by producing a more physical approach, and Winter was booked for his involvement in a dispute following a foul. This would soon prove costly shortly afterwards when the goal hero received a second yellow, then red card for a late challenge 15 minutes from time, much to the displeasure of the K-Park crowd.

Dalbeattie tried to take advantage of the extra man, pressing forward, but EK began to exploit the space on the counter attack, with Gavin MIllar and Joao Victoria both coming close in the final stages.

It was, however, left to Victoria to have the final say, five minutes from time when the Portuguse striker ran onto a fine pass from Fabio Capuano before slamming a shot in off the post to seal a fine 3-0 win for the League leaders.
