East Kilbride FC Amateurs booked their place in the Quarter-finals of the West of Scotland Cup for the very first time after defeating St Mungo's AFC 1-0 at a rain soaked K-Park today.
John Brown's men came flying out the traps with high tempo play and excellent pressing all over the pitch, and were rewarded on the half an hour when a great through ball from Gavin Thomson was controlled brilliantly by Jonny Diack who dispatched into the corner of the net.
In the second half the Amateurs remained in control and missed several chances to increase their lead. Diack hit the post after a great solo effort, and a tremendous team move should have been finished by Jamieson who drilled straight at the keeper.
St Mungos threw everything they had at the EK back line in the last ten minutes, but never registered a shot on target during game.
Kilby will now look forward to a Quarter-final tie against Ayrshire high flyers Shortlees next month.
